GAMBLING LEGALIZATION

A.    Background

In this globalization era, we often see many kinds of events such as the difficulty to buy fuel that is caused by increasing world oil prices, seems to make the financial stability of countries troubled. Many kinds of public facilities that should be cared for by government funds abandoned. The streets were badly damaged, flooding and so on.

Therefore, the government seems to be confused at finding new alternatives to replenish the financial of country that is disrupted. For example, the government increases the price of food stuff, such as increasing fuel price or making new tax type or increasing the existing tax, and finally makes Indonesian more trouble. The strange thing is Indonesian government does not want to admit that Indonesia is in trouble. Even more, they still continue to find more initiative to increase the financial of country.

Actually there are some ways to overcome the financial difficulties of our country. We suggest legalizing gambling. This does not mean legalizing gambling can be done by anyone in anytime or anywhere, but the government must find or make gambling localization in a special place that it is not easy to reach by common people, so the visitors are really selected.

Obviously this proposal would have problems or opposition from various groups, whether public or religious group. But it keeps in mind that legalizing gambling will decrease illegal gambling that does not give the advantages for this country.

Therefore, we pick up the theme of “Gambling legalization” as the title of our paper.
